GAZA, when Netanyahu breaks the famine records set by the Nazis in Holland

In 1944, the Nazis deprived the provinces of the Netherlands that were densely populated in the west, near the major rivers, of food. Known as the “Winter of Hunger,” this blockade was intended to punish the Dutch for their reluctance to support the Nazi war effort. Food and fuel supplies from agricultural areas were cut off. The undisputed figures are reported in Wikipedia.

“Approximately 4.5 million people affected by this famine survived thanks to soup kitchens, and around 22,000 died as a result of starvation]. With gas, electricity, and heating networks cut off, cold and hunger hit the population hard, especially the most vulnerable: children, the elderly, and pregnant women.” This famine has become a classic case study of the long-term effects, spanning three generations, of an increase in neurological and psychiatric disorders and cardiovascular diseases mediated by epigenetic mechanisms of gene expression modification, particularly stress.

“Butter disappeared after October 1944. The supply of vegetable fats was reduced to a tiny 1.3 liters per person for seven months. At first, 100 grams of cheese were allocated for two weeks, and meat coupons lost all their value. The bread ration had already fallen from 2,200 to 1,800 grams per week, reaching 1,400 grams, then 1,000 grams per week in October, and 400 grams in April 1945.“ With one kilo of potatoes, this constituted the entire weekly ration.”

By way of comparison, in GAZA, after seven months of blockade, 1 kilogram of potatoes and 400 grams of bread is a fortune. The mortality rate is much higher than in Holland, with thousands of babies, children, pregnant women, and elderly people dying of starvation, not to mention the destruction of 85 to 90% of homes, with all the corpses under the rubble that this implies. Subsequently, long-term effects will be observed, with reduced life expectancy and an increase in neurodegenerative, neurodevelopmental, and cardiovascular diseases for those who survive.

This undeniable famine has been confirmed by virtually all independent official bodies and experts, and has been acknowledged and justified by Israeli politicians. It cannot be disputed without being accused of revisionism and participation in a genocidal process (see links). The accusations by Israeli politicians that it is Hamas members who are taking the food are beyond cynicism. To sum up, Israel controls the entire territory, allows only 5 to 10% of food trucks to enter, and allows Hamas to take charge of the food in a territory that is 90% destroyed and under the control of the world’s best satellites and intelligence systems. The Israelis allow only a tiny fraction of the trucks waiting at the border to enter, where they rot. What’s more, Israelis destroy the food and take it before it enters in order to starve Gaza, and then boast about it on social media (see links and videos).

In a detailed analysis published by The Guardian, “Clear signs of systematic starvation in the Gaza Strip,” Emma Graham-Harrisson describes the intentional starvation in Gaza.” The mathematical calculation of starvation is simple in Gaza. Palestinians cannot leave, war has ended agriculture, and Israel has banned fishing, so virtually all calories consumed by the population must be imported. Israel knows how much food is needed. It has been calibrating hunger in Gaza for decades, initially calculating deliveries to exert pressure while avoiding starvation. “The idea is to put the Palestinians on a diet, but not to starve them,” said a senior adviser to former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in 2006. Two years later, an Israeli court ordered the release of documents revealing the details of these grim sums.COGAT, the Israeli agency that still controls aid deliveries to Gaza, had calculated that Palestinians needed an average minimum of 2,279 calories per person per day, which could be provided by 1.836 kg of food.

Today, humanitarian organizations are calling for an even lower minimum ration: 62,000 tons of dry and canned food to meet the basic needs of 2.1 million people each month, or about 1 kg of food per person per day. The Famine Review Committee, a group of independent experts that reviews IPC alerts, said food deliveries were “woefully inadequate” and pointed the finger at the GHF. Yet data compiled and published by the Israeli government itself clearly shows that it is starving Gaza. Between March and June, Israel allowed only 56,000 tons of food into the territory, according to COGAT records, less than a quarter of Gaza’s minimum needs for that period. “Our analysis of the food parcels provided by the GHF shows that their distribution plan would lead to mass starvation, even if it could function without the appalling levels of violence that have been reported,” the FRC said. In March and April, Gaza was under total siege, with no food entering. During the first 21 months of the war, 104 days of aerial drops provided the equivalent of only four days of food for Gaza, according to Israeli data, at a cost of tens of millions of dollars. Spent on trucks, the same budget would deliver much more food, but the price of these flights is not only monetary. “

”The data is validated by virtually all international bodies and experts (UN, NGOs, IPC (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification) experts, confirming that in some areas of Gaza, stage 5 famine—the highest level—has been reached (see links). “By June 2026, at least 132,000 children under the age of 5 are expected to suffer from severe malnutrition,” the IPC report stresses. Among them, more than 41,000 are said to be at high risk of death. Some 55,000 pregnant or breastfeeding women will also need urgent nutritional assistance, not to mention the imminent destruction of the city of Gaza (see links).

In short, this is the greatest famine directly caused by an occupying power in this century and is comparable to those perpetrated by the Nazis, Stalin, and others (the British during the Irish wars of independence). In the future, Israeli leaders will be able to claim to have broken the Nazis’ records in this regard. It is up to each of us to assume our moral responsibilities in this situation. As Einstein said, “Evil is not only committed by those who do it, but by those who stand by and do nothing.” For my part, I prefer to bear witness to the enormity of what is happening and reject this despicable conflation of accusations of anti-Semitism, which basically means that Jews (Israelis) have all rights, including the right to massacre a people because of the Holocaust. This is absurd logic that cannot be based on any law or moral rule. A crime remains a crime regardless of who committed it. To all those who persist in defending everything Netanyahu and his henchmen do, please take a moment to reflect on the enormity of these acts and understand that this policy is indefensible on the most basic legal and moral grounds. This is how we destroy what remains of our humanity.
