Netanyahu’s father succeeded Jabotinsky, who already in the 1920s and 1930s advocated for a solely Jewish state from the Jordan River to the sea. The symbol of this party of terrorists, declared as such by the British but also by Ben-Gurion’s Jewish establishment, was a fist over the entire land of Palestine. It should be remembered that the internal war between Ben-Gurion and this movement (to which Begin belonged) also resulted in massacres and the destruction by the Haganah of a ship carrying weapons to the terrorists. So you can be a terrorist and then become perfectly acceptable!
The fact remains that Netanyahu—the son and prime minister of a fascist coalition—has finally declared it openly. He had been saying it quietly and secretly for decades and was notably behind the calls against Rabin that led to his assassination. Yes, Israel will occupy 100% of former Palestine after massacring tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza and spreading terror in the West Bank through foreign “pioneers,” most of whom come from Western countries and who, because they are Jewish, own the land, not those who have lived there for generations. All this in the name of a myth that Jews have always lived in the Holy Land, which historians have proven for ages. In 1947, when the state of Israel was created—on about half of the territory—they represented a small percentage of the inhabitants of this land. We know what happened next. The Nakba, massacres, the destruction of villages and all traces of non-Jewish life (including Christian), in short, a land finally emptied of anything that was not Jewish.
It is staggering that all this is happening with the silence and acceptance of the West—except for a few countries that are saving their honor. Better still, if we may say so, we do not have the right to protest against this slaughter, as Dominique Edde says, in order to avoid the word genocide, which sounds so familiar to our ears, even though it perfectly describes what has been done. Admittedly, Hamas is a terrorist organization that carried out massacres on October 7 and deserves to be condemned, as the International Court of Justice has also stated. But the fact remains that the massacres carried out by the IDF are incomparable, and not only in terms of numbers. Gaza has been completely destroyed—which is difficult to say about Israel, with its army, which remains one of the most powerful in the world. When political leaders justify the direct killing of children—babies—and deliberately starving premature babies—notably by banning powdered milk from entering the territory— when water desalination plants are deliberately destroyed by bombs planted by soldiers on the ground and wells are poisoned when there is no more water… I’m sorry, but we’re talking about an event that has already lasted two years—not one day like October 7. We’re talking about thousands of children with at least one amputated limb, the rare arable land destroyed to prevent any possibility of living off its produce as before the war. We are talking about settlers who shoot at anything that moves in the West Bank—tens of thousands of weapons have been distributed by Ben Gvir, the head of security, a fascist who makes our extreme right look like leftists. How can we describe the destruction of thousands of olive trees—the main source of income for Palestinians in the West Bank—by bulldozers and the death penalty imposed on those who dare to pick their olives? Not to mention the massacres of anyone who gets in the way, including little girls—see the film by Hind Rajab, the little girl who was shot 452 times in a car in which her family perished, and the ambulance that came to pick them up was also massacred. That being said, listen to the poet Mahmoud Darwish on Israel-Palestine relations (3).
In short, in France, as in England and elsewhere, you can protest against the massacre of the Uighurs, the Sudanese, whoever you want, but not the Israeli Jews, with a logic that I try to understand but cannot, except as a mixture of the power of the Jewish lobby and the guilt of the Holocaust—for which, unless I am mistaken, neither the Palestinians nor the Arabs are responsible. Recognizing the state of Palestine but refusing to impose an embargo on the participation of a genocidal state in Eurovision is ridiculous and despicable. Allowing a French judge from the CPU to be unable to move and live normally—as is also the case with Francesca Albanese and Blanche Gardin—because he (they) had the nerve to call what is happening genocide, amply illustrates the failure of the West and the rise of little Trumps everywhere. Where are we headed with a UN that has been stripped of all meaning and is incapable of reacting, a majestic Trump doing whatever he wants everywhere, and our politicians continuing to do everything they can to be seen in a good light by him, which only serves to reinforce his oversized ego?
For God’s sake, accept your defeat and leave at least a little dignity to the Palestinians, whom we have been sacrificing for 80 years. This moral defeat will be paid for, as always, with the loss of the West’s, and especially Europe’s, pretension to represent anyone or anything. The vassalization of Europe by the other will take us back to the pre-Renaissance period.
